    These incentives are fine when the economy is good, but one recession and some of those people might find themselves fighting for the few and far between jobs that would remain. At least in an urban area, when you get laid off, there's a better chance of finding something at least comparable.

    Vermont or Maine might be attractive, but who in their right mind would want to move to a state run by religious nuts and Scott Walker-type corporate bootlickers? No, thanks, South Dakota, Wyoming, etc.

    Unless the country can somehow magically produce more workers, state-by-state incentives will only shift labor shortages and make problems worse in other states.

    I tend to think that being repressive bigots, misogynists and racists hell-bent on limiting the civil rights of everyone who isn't an evangelical conservative white male may have something to this.

    Do they have any programs to keep their younger citizens from leaving?
    It would seem to be well worth looking into that area.
